Hi, I’m Nikki.
I’m the face behind T1 Friendly Foodie. I’m a busy working mum, married with two children, and I’ve lived with type 1 diabetes for nearly 35 years.
I’m passionate about food and photography and I love developing recipes that are low-carb, low fat and sugar-free. I’m also a passionate diabetes advocate having worked with several diabetes organisations in Australia.
I was diagnosed at the age of eight. Initially, I found it hard to accept, but over the years I embraced my diabetes and learnt quickly to get on with it and enjoy my life.
I truly believe you can live a great life with diabetes and it all starts with a healthy diet. Having diabetes doesn’t mean you have to forego delicious food! It is possible to conquer your cravings with healthy, guilt-free options.
Come on a gastronomic adventure with me and check out my recipes, stories and tips to ignite your appetite, conquer your cravings, and inspire you to live well with diabetes.
